This study co-authored by Professor Asif Muneer and Mr Hussain Alnajjar along with their senior researcher Mr Karl Pang, examines real-world data regarding testicular cancer cases in the NHS from 2013 to 2020.
They found that annual incidence rates and patient survival remained consistently high and stable throughout the seven-year period. Most patients were diagnosed through an urgent 2 week wait referral pathway, while surgical intervention served as the primary method of treatment.
The data highlighted that while localised disease carries an excellent prognosis, survival outcomes are generally better for younger patients and those with seminomatous tumors. This comprehensive analysis underscores the value of national registries in monitoring disease trends and ensuring clinical adherence to management guidelines for testicular cancer.
