Last week, Coloplast Interventional Urology brought together the top surgeons from Scotland and Ireland for the first European Infrapubic Join The Experts OR program in men’s health. 

This created an inspiring space for advanced learning and collaboration.

 

What is Coloplast Join The Experts?

The Coloplast Join the Experts program is part of a professional development initiative that is part of Coloplast Professional, a comprehensive education and training platform designed for healthcare professionals. 

The programme aims to help nurses and clinicians advance their skills from novice to expert through interactive, evidence-based training, often developed in collaboration with clinical experts.

 

Mr Alnajjar Provides Clinical Expertise to ‘Join The Experts’ Program on Infrapubic Technique Surgery

Last week, LMC’s expert Andrologist and Urologist was the Leading Faculty and clinical expert leading a program on Infrapubic surgery and Penile Prosthesis. 

The training focused on: 

  • Best‑practice sharing
  • Surgical techniques
  • Challenging case discussions

The training was supported by three live procedures that enabled deep clinical exchange and insights aimed at improving patient outcomes. 

 

What is the Infrapubic Technique?

The Infrapubic Technique is a surgical approach for placing an inflatable penile prosthesis (IPP). This surgical intervention is to treat Erectile Dysfunction, and involves a 2-3 cm horizontal incision in the lower abdomen or pubic hairline instead of the scrotum. 

Some of the key benefits of the Infrapubic Technique offer: 

  • Quicker recovery
  • Less swelling compared with other methods eg. Penoscrotal Approach
  • Less pain
  • No catheter post surgery 
  • Shorter operating times 
  • Better cosmetic outcomes as the incision is hidden in pubic hair

The Infrapubic Technique is carried out by expert surgeons and is deemed as highly effective with high patient satisfaction rates. Whilst satisfaction rates are similar to those of the Penoscrotal Approach, the Infrapubic Technique is often preferred for its patient-friendly recovery profile.
